I'm on my second pair of Aquastealth studded wading boots. I never had the non-studded Aquastealth boots. The studded ones always worked very well. There are two disadvantages to them though. First, they're inappropriate for walking into a fly shop, liquor shop or convenience store as they'll destroy the floor. Second, you can't wear them while rafting.

The non-studded Vibram Streamtread works very well on clean rock. But it becomes extremely slippery on the slightest amount of moss. In other words, you're consigned to getting studs or taking an involuntary bath.

Now Aquastealth sans studs may also be just as slippery as the Streamtread without studs. I don't know because I've never tried non-studded Aquastealth.

I don't know if it is possible to regularly install and remove studs in a Streamtread sole without it eventually becoming so loose that they fall out. Hopefully that isn't the case.

I've always used Simms boots but I'm thinking of switching to Korker's Guide boots with the Boa lacing system(as it's a hassle messing around with boot laces on a wet boot) and its interchangeable OmniTrax sole system.
